About Me
Hey there, This is Vibha Patel. I am a sculpture artist and this is my biography.
Happy Reading 😊
I was born and brought up in a small town Ranavav of district Porbandar in Gujarat, India. From childhood I was fond of writing and drawing, and because of this, I always tried to creat something new in all subjects. During the school, all subject teachers, principal, my classmates and surrounding people always supported me. And obviously family also supported.
Here I am sharing some moments of my journey till now.
When i was in 6th.. I tried penning down something or the other. At that time, I didnt know that what I was writing about, in what way. My first article was published in a magazine named SADHANA and the subject was A TRIP DURING VACATION. This was my first article titled as ગોદાવરી નદીમા નાહ્યા. So that was my beginning and from that day onward, I kept writing articles and poems. And then writing articles and poems became my hobby. With this, I would definitely not leave drawing, so I used to keep my book and pencil together always. Sometimes while sitting on the roof of the house I used to draw the beautiful skies and trees and I also got inspired. At that time there was this craziness in me that I have to do something in life with this the routine kept on going. Any time there was any event or function in school, Vibha started doing decorations and all. In between there were many competitions in school and I used to take walk-in entry just by hearing and looking at other participants and in this way I could speak on stage in front of people. Not only this, I had support from school too. I kept writing during classes. I used to change my place from 1st bench to last. What were the results!?!? I failed my 10th standard board exams. Still my brother and my father kept supporting me and I gave the exams again in trials. Then I joined 11th commerce but my interests were still the same. My reading helped me a lot in becoming what I am today. I used to read newspaper everyday. From the big headlines to the small ones, I used to read every single line. In the newspaper there used to be a career corner and from there I learnt that one can take a course and have a degree based on drawing, FINE ARTS. After that I had a deep desire to do Fine Arts. So as soon as I cleared 12th commerce with 2nd class, and I started preparing for Fine Arts. I gave entrance exam in “The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda”Gujarat India 2002 without anyone’s guidance and on my own. But I was sure from within so I got the admission. And from there my journey as a professional artist started. Actually training to become a professional artist. But still in an artistic environment, an environment I always wanted. The vibes hit just different there. After doing a 21 batch of all departments in 1st year, I liked sculpture better. So I did specialization in sculpture. In this way, I completed Fine Arts Bachelors in 2006 and there was final display and I had to prove myself to my father and brother that I didn’t choose the wrong path. As father and elder brother of mine, they were worried that what will be in my future if I keep working in clay! First day in display was for jury, the second for art galleries and curators and the third was for common public. And it happened so, that all my works except the ones I made for examination, were sold and so I was very happy that I finally proved myself that one can have a future by working in clay, you just need to be hardworking. And my journey still continues, workshops, exhibitions, awards and stuff. And I also like doing social work in a way or other so I involved myself in politics.
I have visited so many countries like Australia, Malaysia, and Dubai etc.
Chitrakala Valley is committed to bringing to the Vadodara Area strong works of sculpture that energize the space they occupy and are imbued with wit, intelligence and a love for the material and form.
